In this article the author addresses the topic of online gambling. At first he talks about how online gambling has certain characteristics that set it apart. Some of those include that one can gamble 24 hours a day 7 days a week if he/she wanted to. He also mentions how age verification isn't sufficient enough. He then brings up how online gambling really has no benefits. One hardly wins ever, and can get his/her own self into major debt. He tells of a boy who got into online gambling and got into so much debt that he tried robbing a bank to try and pay that debt off. He basically just lets us know that online gambling has no positive effects.

The way that I respond to this article is similar to the author. I view online gambling as a dangerous thing just like the author does. I'm sure there are some winners every once in a while, but most of the time, people get ripped off and lose a ton of money. I think that it is a good idea that the federal government is cracking down on this problem, and trying to make it illegal. A couple years ago the NBA had a gambling incident with a referee. The ref had made different bets with other people about how a game would turn out, and won a lot of money that way. Basically I am against online gambling period!

  1. I agree with ige on this one. I think that online gambling is just a dumb thing to do with your money period. The chances of winning are very slim so whats the point. I think that it is a good thing that the federal government is cracking down gabbling should only be allowed state to state and not out the world wide internet.

  2. I agree Jon, gambling can be very dangerous. Gambling is a waste of time, and it can also be very addictive. The story with the boy robbing a bank to get his lost money back is depressing, but i could definitely see it happen. I have a cousin who started out as a good kid, but he started gambling online and his life has basically gone downhill from there.

  3. I agree with this. Gambling is very risky and the chances of winning are very slim. The boy who robbed the bank is probably one of thousands of people who rob someone, or in this case a bank, in order to try to pay off their debt or whatever.

  4. i agree with jon on this topic. Gambling on the internet is much more risky because you don't always know where your money is online especially when it's being wired back and forth from websites to other people's bank accounts. Not only that but gambling is the number one reason for debt in states that allow gambling. It's a great thing that the government is stepping in on this
